The Q-Switched laser offers you the possibility of removing tattoos safely, effectively and in a few sessions, regardless of their color. With this same technology, most benign skin lesions can be easily removed, without the need for perform invasive techniques.

The Q-Switched laser is indicated to eliminate:

tattoos
pigmentations
lentigines
sun damage
dyschromias
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The Q-Switched Laser emits different specific wavelengths for each of the colors that a tattoo or pigmented lesion may have. The light absorbed by the pigment causes it to break up into small particles that are eliminated by physiological mechanisms.

HOW IS THE TREATMENT WITH Q-SWITCHED?
Immediately after treatment, the skin may show discoloration, and the area around the tattoo or pigmented lesion may be red or swollen.

Some patients feel a slight burning sensation, like that of a sunburn. Most treatments do not require anesthesia. However, some patients feel more comfortable with the prior application of cold or topical anesthetics.

It is normal, and it disappears in a short time. The results of a single session will be fully visible between 4 and 6 weeks. After treatment, an antibacterial ointment can be applied and the treated area covered with a dressing.

HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE NEEDED?
The number of sessions depends on the size, location, depth and color of the tattoos or pigmented lesions.

Normally between 5 and 8 sessions are enough, but the decision depends on the doctor’s criteria. The sessions should be spaced at an interval of 4 to 8 weeks, to allow the body to eliminate the maximum amount of pigments.

The duration of the sessions normally ranges between 10 and 30 minutes each. To estimate the number of treatments necessary to remove the tattoo, the following criteria are taken into account:

Skin type: Darker skin types require more sessions.

Tattoo Colors: Black tattoos are easier to remove. Multicolor tattoos require more sessions.

Tattoo Site: Areas with better circulation, such as the head and neck, require fewer sessions than an extremity such as a hand or finger.

Amount of Ink: measured both by the density of the tattoo and whether it was done by a professional or not.

Layering – If a tattoo has been covered by another, more treatments will be needed to remove it.

Scars: The presence of a previous scar in the area will increase the number of treatments needed

WHEN WILL I SEE THE RESULTS?
In a few weeks you will notice changes. The tattoo will lighten with each treatment session as the ink fades. Sometimes the skin surrounding the tattoo will be slightly lightened as well, which almost always returns to normal after a few months.
